Soft Heart. Sharp Mind.Radiant Body!
A growing, modern yoga style that originated in the USA. Anusara is saying ”YES” to life and everthing that enhances life. In class the student is encouraged to make the connection with his or her “Heart,” their own essence that is filled with and moved by a Universal Energy (something bigger than ourselves). Five Universal Alignment Principles help the student to come into alignment with this Energy to create more strength, freedom and wellbeing. While Anusara respects the differences between people with their own strenghts and limitations, the classes are physically challenging. In Anusara classes are taught with Vinyasa Flow alternated with holding poses for a longer time with more explanation.
Styles and Levels
Yoga Moves offers a number of different styles of yoga and a number of different levels. Many people ask us what type of yoga to start with…the most important thing to consider is the level of the class. Most of our beginner’s classes will give a similar foundation to yoga practice and are complementary to one another.
If you are new to yoga start with our Yoga Basics Classes.
If you have a firm ground in the foundational poses take Beginners Welcome classes.
Do you have a steady yogapractice and want to deepen further? Go to our Mixed Level classes.
See below for more information!

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at Yoga Moves:
The Ashtanga approach is composed of energetic series of asanas linked to the breath in a “moving meditation”. Often referred to as 'aerobic' or 'power' yoga, Ashtanga uses sun salutations to build heat and detoxify the body and then moves through a series of asanas designed to heat, clean, open and purify the body and mind. Yoga Moves teachers will modify the Primary Series in the beginners or all levels classes (level 1-2) but it follows the main line of the primary series sequence.
If you like to experience the traditional full primary series - please join one of these occasional classes on the weekend!
Yoga Moves offers several led Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga classes a week.
Inspired by a blend of Hatha yoga traditions, these Hatha Blend classes are taught by teachers who study more than one yoga discipline. A unique approach to integrating the teachings of different lineages creates an eclectic and integrative experience. At Yoga Moves our Hatha Yoga Flow classes are generally softer than the vinyasa based classes but always delicious!!
This hatha yoga class is a milder class and is suitable when you are seeking to bring the attention to your breath and to experience your body, breath and mind in a deeper way in the asana (posture). This class is therefor also suitable for beginners and people with (mild) injuries. The class is built up of different elements to relax and recharge the body. Part of this class will be focused on working the body to create a deeper experience of relaxation. We therefor start in a dynamic way practicing sun salutations and then move on to holding several postures for a longer period of time. After each posture there is a short relaxation. We end class with pranayama (breathing exercises) and a final relaxation. Each class begins and ends with a mantra to deepen the experience of relaxation.

Iyengar yoga is a yoga style where the practice of asanas is considered the starting point of a spiritual practice. Much attention is placed on correct alignment in asanas in order to develop strength, stamina, flexibility and balance, as well as concentration and meditation. It aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well-being. This discipline is considered a powerful tool to relieve the stresses of modern-day life, which in turn can help promote total physical and spiritual well-being.
Kids LOVE yoga! The Sun Salutation is our basis, and most yoga poses are related to nature objects and animals. Through yoga we also learn about the breath, concentration, relaxation and consciousness. Give you kids a chance to discover the power of yoga!
How does one learn to be? Our meditation classes offer techniques for finding stillness and peace within your body and mind. Approaches may vary depending on the teacher. Please visit our page on meditation classes at Yoga Moves.

What is a Mysore Yoga Class?
Most yoga classes are group classes, full of students with all different levels of experience. Often, such classes can be too challenging for some people yet for others, too easy…
In Mysore style classes, students learn and practice Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at their own pace. Beginners may be working on the basic poses, while experienced students do more challenging postures…Everyone is challenged, without being overwhelmed; inspired and content.
The teacher will work with each student individually, as they arrive and moves around the room to assist. Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga truly works for students of all levels.
Yoga Moves Pilates classes tone up the torso like no other discipline. The abs, hips, buttocks and lower back work together as the body's "powerhouse", and all other movements are generated from this area outward. Pilates movements challenge the deeper, often neglected abdominal muscles, creating an amazingly strong core. The “plus” refers to the fact that our classes always include some yoga stretches.
If you are searching for other ways to tone and build core conditioning, also consider trying power vinyasa classes at Yoga Moves.
In a power class you can expect to work with principles of vinyasa, heat, attention to alignment, holding longer and core work (abdominal, strength building focus). We are introducing “warm” classes, where the room is warm and you can plan to help detox through sweating and working with the heat to help you open.
In a Yoga Moves Power Yoga class you can expect to work with principles of vinyasa (flow and breath), heat (external heat in the room and also your own internal heat) attention to alignment, holding longer and core work (abdominal, strength building focus). Some classes at Yoga Moves, we are introducing “hot yoga” classes, where the room is warm and you can plan to help detox through increased sweating and working with the heat to help your muscles open, this will also help you to learn to let go more.

Yoga Moves Slow Flow Vinyasa yoga class is the natural result of a long exploration of what feels good and is developed by Hilary Menting. Yoga Moves Slow Flow balances the yang quality of a slow vinyasa (= breath and movement are connected) flow with the yin qualities of longer holds, restoratives, deep relaxation and meditation. We follow a traditional flow of asanas, hold longer, have more stillness in-between and work with more sitting and ground-based postures. Beginners welcome, but everyone who wants a quieter, practice can enjoy. (be prepared however to work a little!)
A vigorous, dynamic style which links breath and movement through a heat building sequence of postures that build awareness, depth and meditative flow. Vinyasa means to flow, to stay awake, to be connected to the circular nature of things. These classes can be slow, strong and thoughtful or sometimes very demanding with a stronger pace.
The Yin-flow yoga class has a gentle pace in which the deep Yin Yoga stretches are alternated with strengthening, revitalizing and more active yoga poses. Each class starts with a breathing practice and a gentle warm-up, followed by some more strength building poses in combination with Yin Yoga poses and ending with relaxation. The Yin-flow class is a very nice way to start your day afresh, stretched and in touch with yourself.
Yoga Moves also offers Yin Yoga. Yin yoga is a specific style of yoga where you move into long held poses, releasing muscular tension, open deeply into your joints and allowing resistance to melt. Delicious. Not easy. Did I mention delicious?
Experientially, the practice is characterized by passive asana held for several minutes each. The practice is called yin, as opposed to yang, because it corresponds with yin attributes such as substance (as opposed to activity), passive posturing (as opposed to active movement), cold (as opposed to hot) and other such qualities. It has been differentiated from "yang" yoga (warm, moving-vinyasa-based) since yin yoga is softer and less aggressive.
These classes are great for everyone – but beginners can feel comfortable starting here. We keep it simple but deep. So everyone will find something in these back to basics classes.
