Nigam and Anoshe
ANOSHE
Born in Amsterdam, Anoshe took her first yoga and meditation classes when she was 19 years of age. Besides yoga, she has studied dance, many forms of moving meditation, including tai chi, and the classic Indian dance, Bharat Natyam in India. She has performed dance improvisation for Janis Claxton and Co, a renowned choreographer in the UK, and worked with her closely in several Dance of the Goddess retreats.
In 1990, when she won an air ticket to India in a raffle, Anoshe's life changed dramatically. She stayed with several spiritual teachers on her inner quest, before she met her Indian teacher with whom she traveled through Kashmir, the Himalayas and around the world, participating in long silent retreats and came to understand the profound effect of silence and meditation which enhances her yoga classes in our busy chaotic world. Anoshe feels that yoga is a perfect technique for her students to become "the center of their cyclone"… to simply be free and feel relaxed.
NIGAM
Nigam has been singing kirtan his whole adult life. When Nigam was initiated into Kriya Yoga directly by Satyananda Saraswati almost 30 years ago, he began in earnest his quest to understand life at its deepest levels. Meditation, mantra and kirtan singing together with his passion for the ocean and surfing have been his constant companions on this journey, leading him to India where he met Osho in 1991 and finally to his meditation master Baba Purnanand two years later. With Baba there was no further need to enquire with other spiritual teachers and thus followed twelve years of meditation retreats and long silent sittings.
These days Nigam’s simple heart opening devotional music with guitar and harmonium have given him the ability to explain complex concepts in straight forward, easy to grasp language. This is inspiring and encouraging for those fellow travelers on the journey. He has sung kirtan, taught mantra and meditation on retreats and yoga teacher trainings in India, Bali and Europe.
When he is not traveling Nigam and Anoshe are at home near the beach in Byron Bay Australia with their two and a half year old daughter, Sanna, where Nigam has also built The Belongil Beachouse, a successful tourist accommodation business.
