About the Summer Intensive Teacher Training

This practical and hands-on training will give you a chance to start teaching a safe, inspired, deep and responsible yoga class. You will be challenged in both your own practice and in your development of unique teaching skills. We will be teaching you from 2 foundations: prana vinyasa flow approach to yoga, using breath connected movements and deep alignment following BKS Iyengars approach to buidling asana. This combination is a powerful way to learn how to really become a force of change in your clients/ students lives.

We give you practical & down-to-earth information you can actually apply to your yoga. You will have opportunities to teach and be guided and coached by our senior teachers, guiding you in all aspects of teaching: technical, emotional, verbal, philosophical.

The course will give you:

  • Learn to see bodies, and understand why some people need different approaches
  • Daily challenging classes that will bring your own practice to new levels
  • Learn how to structure and create a cohesive, well-rounded class for beginners or more advanced students and how to do both at the same time.
  • Explore breath and how to teach it
  • Learn how to work with props, also in a flow class.
  • Explore not only dyanamic teaching, relaxed restorative, and understand how to bring energy up and down in the class room.
  • Learning how to touch or assistant students with verbal, demo and touch.
  • Acquire a practical understanding of yoga philosophy and applied anatomy
  • Have the confidence and tools to begin teaching yoga

In the time in between the 3-week intensive and the long weekend, you will be asked to take classes and start teaching beginning yoga students (family, friends, co-workers…) and to complete some assignments.

The final weekend will be when we invite actual students in to experiece a class you will co-teach with your colleagues! A super experience where everyone learns a lot!

"For me the intensive setup worked very well, although it was “ pittig” (demanding) some times, I loved the immersion."
It was a bonding experience."

Teacher Biography:

Hilary Anne Brown

Vanaf 2001 heeft ze verschillende certificaten mogen ontvangen: teacher certificates in Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga (Iyengar Institute Amsterdam (2001), It's Yoga (Ashtanga Vinyasa (2001), Shiva Rea's Vinyasa Flow (2004-9).

Teacher Biography:

Shirley Woods

Shirley studies, practices and teaches Yoga in her studio Innerspace in Amsterdam. She was introduced to Astanga Yoga over ten years ago and now studies Vijnana Yoga (practicing from inside) with Orit Sen-Gupta. Orit introduced her to the completeness of practicing the yogic disciplines of sitting, pranayama, asana and study. For the past several years she has been a student of Georg Feuerstein. Moving towards effortless effort is a main theme in teaching and practice, both on and off the mat. It is a concept that appears frequently in the history and philosophy of Yoga. One of Shirley’s main goals is to inspire students to go further into the traditional texts on their own, and to apply this in their Yoga practice and daily life.
