“It hurts to write this”

“It hurts to write this”
But it also feels right.

Running a yoga school is an act of devotion. Each day, we prepare a space where people can arrive and feel at ease. We prepare the room, turn on the heat, fold the blankets, and do our best to keep it all affordable and accessible, because we believe yoga should be available to everyone.

And yet, as things shift around us — rising rents, higher energy costs, growing needs within our team — we’re faced with decisions that ask for clarity and care.

One of those moments is now.

We’ve noticed some recurring patterns: people using discounts that aren’t meant for them, purchasing an intro pass multiple times, or joining a class without canceling when they couldn’t make it. Sometimes memberships are canceled too late, with requests for refunds. And sometimes, we’re left with an empty spot that someone else would have loved to take.

These are not accusations. They’re moments we all recognize — we’ve all missed a deadline, forgotten to cancel, or made a choice that felt easier in the moment. What we’re asking for is awareness. Shared responsibility. A gentle reminder that this space — and everything it takes to hold it — is something we carry together.

We have cancellation policies and membership terms in place. Not to be strict, but to protect balance — for our teachers, our team, and for those who commit. These guidelines help us offer what we do in a sustainable and fair way. And yes, we try to be flexible where we can. Generous, even. But within clear limits. That clarity supports everyone.

In the Yoga Sutras, the principle of satya — truthfulness — reminds us that yoga begins with integrity. Not just on the mat, but in how we move through life. In how we relate to each other. In how we show up.

We’ll continue to do our part. With open hearts and open minds. And we invite you to do the same.

Let’s keep this space honest, respectful, and shared. Together.

If you're facing challenges and need support: talk to us.
If this message resonates: share it with someone who might appreciate it.
If you care about keeping this community strong: thank you. That matters deeply.

This is yoga too.

Truthfulness is not always easy. But it brings us closer to what matters.
