Meet our new Community Class teachers
Every Friday, our Community Classes open the space for new teachers to step forward and for our community to practice together. From September 4 until November 20 | 12:30–13:30, two fresh graduates of our 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training will guide you through these free Vinyasa classes: Yoka Gosselink en Denise Schiavo.
About Yoka
‘How could I have not chosen yoga with a name like this?’
As a child, Yoka did gymnastics and always loved the combination of flexibility and strength. At 18, her mom took her to her first yoga class. She expected something similar to gymnastics, but was pleasantly surprised how different the approach was in yoga. She enjoyed the gentleness and moving consciously, connecting every movement to a breath. Since then she has been practicing on and off, alongside sports like kickboxing and skateboarding, but yoga always stayed.
To her, the spiritual part of yoga is an ongoing process that you can practice in almost every aspect of life. Yoga is a way to connect to yourself, including the parts that are hidden and you may not always want to see or show. It teaches us to stay present and meet ourselves with kindness, even when things feel uncomfortable. Yoka is trained as a vinyasa teacher at Yoga Moves Utrecht. Her goal is to help others breathe through discomfort, on the mat as a yoga teacher and off the mat as a psychologist. When you join her class, you will experience feeling calm and grounded through gentle movement. To her, this is one of the best feelings in the world and she’s happy to help others experience it too.
About Denise
Denise was 19 years old when she took her first yoga lesson. At the time, she lived in Naples and was going through burnout. She felt completely lost, and one day stumbled upon a class schedule with an invitation to try Hatha Yoga. She really didn’t know what it was about, but decided to go for it. For the first time, she noticed something shifting inside of her and a deeper sense of self starting to come to the surface.
After moving to the Netherlands, she started taking in-person lessons. After her first Yin Yang class, feeling very grounded and calm, she thought about wanting to make other people feel the same way that class had made her feel. Yoga became her little hideout and safe space, a place where she could just be, without any expectations.
Yoga has always been her light, and that is the reason she decided to deepen her practice. She trained as a Vinyasa yoga teacher at Yoga Moves, completing her 200-hour training in July. When you join her classes, you will feel welcomed and nurtured and experience a deep connection between breath and movement. She loves looking at students’ relaxed gazes at the end of class and feeling that, even in a tiny way, she has made a difference in someone’s day.
Community Classes
Every Friday, you can join a free Vinyasa yoga class that’s open to everyone, making yoga truly accessible for all. Each class is taught by a Yoga Moves Vinyasa Teacher Training graduate and welcomes all levels. Most classes follow the set beginner sequence, but each teacher may bring in simple creative variations to share their own inspiration.
Come support our new teaching talent and experience the flow of breath and movement in a warm community setting. Free for all to join!
