What Moves You: Clarine
Eighteen years of practice, with room to keep exploring.
Choosing a class at Yoga Moves sometimes feels like being in a candy store to Clarine. With classes at different times of day and a choice of styles, she can begin with a simple question: how am I feeling today, and what do I need?
Clarine has been coming to Yoga Moves in Utrecht for at least eighteen years. She enjoys practising with Petros and often attends Irma’s classes, while the variety gives her room to explore other ways of practising too.
“Yoga Moves means a lot to me,” she says. “It feels like a second home.”
Her interest in yoga began with its physical side. She approached it from a sports perspective and enjoyed how active it was. As she explored different forms of yoga, she also became interested in the meaning of the poses and the philosophy behind the practice.
That interest led her to the Going Deeper programme, followed by a Yin Yoga teacher training with José de Groot. Alongside the classes she loved attending, these programmes gave her opportunities to study yoga further.
After so many years, she still appreciates having a choice when she looks at the schedule. Familiar teachers are part of what brings her back, and there is space to choose a class that fits how she feels that day.
As Yoga Moves celebrates its anniversary, Clarine has a wish for the studio and for herself: to keep coming to class for at least another 25 years, perhaps even longer.
“That’s my wish for them and for myself.”
