Julie Martin at Yoga Moves
Embodied yoga, explored from the inside
This year, we’re welcoming Julie Martin to Yoga Moves for a series of XL workshops and an immersion that all share a common thread: learning to sense how movement is organised in the body, rather than trying to perfect shapes.
Julie’s teaching is rooted in embodied yoga. She encourages students to pay attention to what is happening in their own bodies. Her work moves away from rigid frameworks and invites a more personal, experience-based understanding of practice.
Julie Martin
A teacher who works with experience, not ideals
Julie Martin is known for questioning assumptions within yoga practice. She invites practitioners to reconsider habits that have been taken for granted and to develop more trust in their own perception.
In her classes and trainings, the emphasis stays close to the body. Movements are explored slowly and attentively, allowing patterns to become noticeable without being forced or corrected. This allows each participant to engage with the practice in a way that feels relevant to their own body.
A series of workshops that build understanding
Julie’s offerings at Yoga Moves are designed as standalone workshops that also connect into a larger picture. Each one focuses on a specific area of embodied organisation, while staying accessible and practical.
Fascia Essentials
This workshop introduces fascia as a living, responsive system rather than a static structure. Through guided exploration, you’ll begin to sense how fascia contributes to stability and continuity during practice. Read more.
Feet & Pelvis
Here, the focus shifts to how support travels from the ground up. By working with feet, legs, and pelvis, you’ll explore standing poses and transitions with attention to how support is organised rather than imposed. Read more.
Hands & Core
This workshop explores how the hands relate to the core during weight-bearing and transitional movements. You’ll explore how support can be distributed during movement and how unnecessary effort can show up. Read more.
The Empowered Woman
Alongside the XL workshops, Julie will also guide The Empowered Woman, a four-day immersion at Yoga Moves. This immersion offers more time to work with physical strength, presence, and agency through movement practice. The work stays grounded in sensation and personal experience, allowing you to meet strength in a way that feels sustainable and authentic. Read more.
Each workshop can be attended on its own, yet together they offer a deeper understanding of how different parts of the body cooperate in movement.
For practitioners and teachers alike
Julie’s workshops are open to dedicated practitioners as well as yoga teachers. No specific style background is required. What matters is a willingness to explore practice through attention and experience.
Teachers often appreciate how Julie’s work supports clearer observation and more adaptable teaching. Practitioners often notice changes in how familiar movement feels, without needing to memorise new techniques.
The learning happens through experience first, with language used only to support what is already being felt.
Practising with attention
Julie Martin’s offerings at Yoga Moves invite a way of practising that stays close to experience. Attention is placed on what is felt while moving, allowing understanding to develop through practice itself.
