Mini-dosing & Yin: Celebrating Mid-Summer

With Merel Maria Meessen

In this ceremony we celebrate the long days and open to the fullness of summer. We offer a small dose of psilocybin truffles and journey inward during a long Yin Yoga session, supplemented with breathwork and live music. The focus of the yin practice is on the Fire-element of the Heart.

About mini-dosing

We are working with a mini-dose: a mild but noticeable dose of psilocybin truffles. This is different from a microdose: a microdose remains below the surface (barely noticeable) and a minidose brings a mild inner journey. The sensitivity to psilocybin is different for every body. That means that with a minidose, some people will be able to dive into a subtle psychedelic journey, while others will experience only mild sensations or simply deeper relaxation in the practice.Read more about the difference here.

Minidosing is always optional: at the beginning of the ceremony Merel will explain what to expect from a minidose and you are also welcomed to take less than what is offered - or none at all - if you prefer.

In some cases, taking psilocybin truffles is advised against:
please read the contra-indications below.

What to expect from the truffles

Truffles, in scientific language, are called “nonspecific enhancers” - they enhance the sensitivity to our inner world: i.e. they help us feel more deeply. It’s like temporarily placing a magnifying glass on (parts of) our inner world - and sometimes on places we had forgotten or weren’t fully aware of. This is why truffles can be such a beautiful addition to the practice of yoga and self-embodiment. It also means that sometimes the experience is beautiful and pleasant, whereas at other times it can be confronting or uncomfortable.

Which inner parts or feelings are enhanced during a ceremony cannot be predicted - this will be unique to you. Experiences with truffles can vary widely - from coming in touch with spiritual insight, the beauty of the moment and interbeing, to experiencing physical discomfort, releasing our tears or facing our fears.

Welcoming challenge

A truffle experience can be beautiful and profound. At the same time, encountering difficult feelings or thoughts during a ceremony is normal and does not mean that something is wrong. It means that your body and mind are surfacing something that can be felt or seen, and may be ready for release, integration or understanding. If you have a challenging moment during a truffle experience, resisting the feelings/thoughts will prolong them. Instead, the best thing you can do is to try to welcome your experience by deep, slow breathing and to remind yourself that this will also pass again. Also, you can always ask your facilitators for support, which they are happy to offer.

Opportunities

The difficult experiences often also include an opportunity. When we can stay with challenging feelings and allow them to pass through, oftentimes they connect us to a deeper part of ourselves, bring an insight or remind us of something that is important to us. This is why in the ceremony, we try to welcome challenges - if they come.

The same goes for the beautiful ceremony experiences - their value lies not (only) in the moment itself, but in what they connect us with and how we can cultivate that in our daily lives.

In the ceremonial setting there is loving guidance and music to support you to navigate your inner world in both the beautiful and challenging parts. Support by the facilitators is both proactively offered and you can always ask for it.

Psilocybin as a teacher

Psilocybin truffles, like plant medicine, are traditionally seen as ‘teachers’. Even though oftentimes a ceremony is experienced as beautiful, we don’t go into a ceremony ‘for fun’ (although fun may be part of your experience). We go to learn: to have an honoust inner look in order to support our growth and insight. What matters is not whether your experience during a ceremony is beautiful or difficult: what matters is whether you can find meaning in your experience that can support you to live your life more wholesomely and more in touch with yourself. This is the invitation of a truffle ceremony.
